Jeanette D Moon

Jeanette Moon entered into rest on March 17, 2022. She was born in Houston, Texas on June 14, 1932 to Jimmie Dyer and Lola Kissel Dyer. Raised in Houston, Jeanette attended Spring Branch Elementary, Hogg Jr High and graduated from Lamar High School, Class of 1949. While attending the University of Houston, she began working at Southwestern Bell. The Dyer family along with the Kissel family regularly attended Baptist Temple in the Heights. It was there she met her future husband, Howard Moon, while both were teaching Sunday School classes.  Jeanette and Howard continued to attend Baptist Temple where they married on April 20, 1957. After marriage, she became a mother to two sons, Dean and Marshall. Jeanette managed the home and cared for her family through moves across the country, from Texas to Oregon, Maryland and back to Texas in 1966. Jeanette was also the PTA President at both Sinclair Elementary and Hamilton Jr. High. As her sons grew, she returned to work at Southwestern Bell/AT&T. Jeanette’s passion for travel inspired her and Howard to explore the world. They traveled together to six different continents, most of the countries in Europe and all fifty states.  Some other passions of hers included working crosswords puzzles, the Astros, classic movies, and gospel music. One of her favorite pastimes was working jigsaw puzzles, which often became a family endeavor. Jeanette was very involved in her community and will be greatly missed by the other residents of Timbergrove Manor, where she resided for 54 years. She was a devoted Christian and a long time member of Baptist Temple. She helped organize and was a one-time President of the neighborhood Red Hat Club.

Howard Moon has requested that instead of flowers, he would like donations to the Rotary Club of Houston Heights Charitable Foundation Inc. in memory of Jeanette D Moon.
